ON BOOKS YOU SHOULD OWN!
Writing Fiction: A guide to narrative craft by Janet Burroway
(that’s the sf public lib in the back. There was an old lady with humungous binocular-like glasses trying to be in the goddamn picture. She stood behind me in the corridor smiling at my computer and giggling and trying to hide behind the shelfs when i told her “lady, i can see you.” Then she raised her arms in severe disappointment that I had discovered her plan to ruin my photograph.)
I’ve been using this book for six months now and it is INCREDIBLY helpful. Burroway has a magnificent way of pulling in the writer by providing practical writing techniques and concrete examples. Buy it. For real.
